Libraries Catalog: New Design, Functionality on Aug. 4

By Kevin Cretsos

A longtime resource provided by University Libraries has undergone a redesign informed by best practices and user input. The catalog’s new, simplified interface will launch on Wednesday, Aug. 4. The main improvement is its responsive design, meaning that the catalog will resize for a monitor, tablet, smartphone or other device. It also has higher-contrast colors, optional keyboard navigation and other features that improve accessibility.

You may know it as the catalog, a database, or maybe its URL: flyers.udayton.edu. Either way, the catalog facilitates:

  • Checking your library account for requests, holds and items out.
  • Searching or browsing the print, electronic, media and equipment holdings of the University Libraries.
  • Text messaging or saving of bibliographic information to keep track of interesting items.

The redesign will not affect the search interface for UDiscover, another research tool that allows you to simultaneously search the UD catalog, OhioLINK catalog, and many of the online resources available through the University Libraries, in addition to institutional repositories and open-access resources.

Would you like to learn more about the new catalog or other library resources? Visit the Libraries’ Get Help page for the variety of options available for assistance.
